Drilling and tapping

Drilling is a machining technique in which a round hole in a product is made with the help of a drill. When the operation is carried out with the aid of a drill, the tool performs both the turning and the movement towards the product. When a lathe is used, the tool performs the movement of the product, but not the rotation. The product then revolves.

A thread tap or simply tap is a screw-shaped tool that is used to make an internal thread.
