Boring is a machining technique. It is a form of turning where the product is stationary and the tool is turning. The boring tool is eccentrically mounted on the rotating shaft, describing a circular motion with the bit out. There are two types of boring: longitudinal boring, where the circle describing the tool remains the same and the tool is continuously introduced into an existing hole and flat boring, whereby the tool is pressed further and further out and not towards the workpiece, causing a ever larger round surface.
